About Nelda Mundy Elementary

  • Nelda Mundy Elementary School is a TK-5 school with an enrollment of approximately 770 students. It is located on the west side of Fairfield in the Green Valley neighborhood near the junction of Interstates 80 and 680.  We are a close-knit community of students, parents, and faculty.  Mundy’s purpose is to be an academically growing and socially inclusive community where everyone feels supported and valued.

The whole staff works hard to assure that children’s needs are met academically, socio-emotionally, physically and mentally. While standards-based instruction in the core subjects occurs daily, students are also engaged in mindfulness practices, hands-on learning experiences, and instruction with embedded Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) content.

Nelda Mundy Elementary's Theme

  • Nelda Mundy’s school theme this year is loving who we are and recognizing and celebrating our self-worth and embracing differences. We will be using the book "I am Enough" by Grace Byers to help illustrate the importance of that. Regardless of one’s looks, abilities, or beliefs, every child is unique, able, and worthy of respect. Mrs. Byers’s message encourages children to recognize diversity and show respect and kindness to others.  In the book, children engage in solitary as well as cooperative activities. Nelda Mundy will also continue last year's theme of TEAM: Together Everyone Achieves More.
